A Lasting Legacy For The Arts
Carl and Kate Turkstra founded The Incite Foundation For The Arts in 2011 and it will carry on their great work.
Inciting Success for the Arts in Hamilton
Founded in 2011, the incite Foundation for the Arts is a non profit organization dedicated to revolutionizing support for the arts in the Hamilton Community. Our organization strives to enrich the lives of Hamiltonians and visitors by championing visual and performing arts charitable institutions in the area.
We intensely believe in the power of the arts to enrich communities, attract new visitors and economic growth to our city, initiate strong bonds of friendship and promote confidence and self esteem in individuals of all ages. Our goal is to create a cultural revolution in Hamilton by allowing arts related organizations to thrive without fear of monetary encumbrance.
Since its founding in 2011 incite has contributed more than $5 million to over 30 Hamilton-area organizations in grants from $2,500 to $150,000.
What We Do
Incite funds the visual and performing arts through private donations. Our most significant goal is to create a long term base of financial support for the groups we assist in the Hamilton area. We fund worthy organizations through careful assessment by the volunteers on our Advisory Committee. Growth and continued fiscal health will allow us to increase the number of grants that we award annually.
Our Recipients
Dundas Valley School of Arts, through the generous and dedicated support of the incite Foundation for the Arts, has been able to nurture and support creativity for thousands of Hamiltonians. From our multifaceted Community Art Experience program, which brings free art classes and workshops to community groups, to our exhibition Gallery that provides a space to showcase the art works of our students and local artists to a wider audience, the impact of incite Foundations support for DVSA has been significant.
